- Our Summer Family Picnic will be happening each week at Brad Ragan Park at 6pm. Bring a meal for your family to the lower picnic shelter at the back of the park. This is a great way to stay plugged in to community and also hang out with people from church that may be outside your homegroup.
- Buy The Building Update – We are at 103% pledged and 90% given for our buy the building campaign. This is incredible news! If you have not turned in your pledge card you can still do that. Our $310,000 goal was for the down payment so any additional amount will go towards the payoff of the building! As a reminder, if you made a pledge and haven’t donated then you can do that between now and August 1st. Our goal is to have the 90% at 100% by that date for the down payment. Right now we are scheduling an engineer to come and give us a full report of the building in the due diligence period.
- Elder Candidate James Byrd was announced as an official Elder at The Grove. The Bible describes an Elder as an overseer and the qualifications are described in 1 Timothy 3 as well as Titus 1. The qualifications of a deacon are similar to those of an elder/overseer except an elder must be “able to teach”. James has shown over the past 6 months that he meets the qualifications as an Elder so Pastors Mark and Adam gladly installed him officially as an Elder.
- Ecclesiastes Ending – Next week 6/11 will be our final sermon in our Ecclesiastes series. We have enjoyed preaching through this book together and hope that it has been a blessing. Sunday’s sermon is a conclusion of the whole book and will be a great encouragement not to waste your life waiting to follow Jesus. This is an awesome message to invite someone to church for. If you have an unsaved co-worker or friend please invite them to come Sunday.
- Men’s Ministry Camping Trip – Our men’s ministry is having a camping trip for all of our men and boys at The Grove 6/9-6/10. 6pm Friday to 11am Saturday. This will be on The Byrd’s property and is being planned by Mark Miller. You will need to bring your tent, sleeping bag, bug spray and food to cook on the fire. The church will provide drinks, chips, cookies and junk food for the evening Saturday. If you would like to join or have questions please contact Mark. All men are welcome!
- Summer Preaching Schedule – As Ecclesiastes ends, we are excited about the upcoming preaching schedule. We will have some guest preachers coming through this summer as well as Mark Miller preaching through the book of Philippians. Mark is a covenant member at The Grove who has experience as a pastor at his previous church. The Elders have asked him to take on an advisor/encourager role for us in this season. Mark has been an encouragement to a lot of people since he joined the church last year and is excited to preach a four week series for us in July. We will have other preachers coming to preach who are friends of The Grove and also some individuals who could be candidates for the Lead Speaking Pastor position.
